New style: Start off posts with section of the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu
December 28, 2009The Tao that can be followed is not the eternal Tao.
THe name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The nameless is the origin of heaven and earth
While naming is the origin of the myriad things.
Therefore, always desireless, you see the mystery
Ever desiring, you see the manifestations.
These two are the same—
When they appear they are named differently.
THis sameness is the mystery,
Mystery within mystery;
The door to all marvels.
When younger I feared the darkness, avoided it, ran past it–my only savior was the light that made things before my eyes appear with shape and color. The lightbulb, the light switch made the darkness vanish. I was in grade school–5th grade. I was 11 years old. That was year 2000.
I am 19 now. It is 2009, almost 2010. Last night, my peoples–mom and Stewart (her boyfriend)–found their temporary escapes by getting out of the house. Last night alone, I walked willingly into the darkness and sat on my bed crossed legged. I closed my eyes. I opened them back up, emptied my past fears, and my eyes welcomed the darkness…
and I conquered.
